Character's name: Setsuka Character's age: unknown, but looks younger than she is (she must be in her thirties at the very least) Character's gender: female Series the character is from: X Point in canon they're being taken from: after her death Brief background: When he was nine years old, Seishirou left his hometown Kanazawa and went to the outskirts of Tokyo, where in an old, traditional house, in a room he later concluded must have been a prison cell, he found a young-looking woman who smiled at him, kissed his cheek and told him she was his mother. It was a very touching family reunion (at least, this is how it happened according to Seishirou’s character file – I’m not sure whether or not this was actually written by CLAMP themselves). In any case: for the next six years at the least, mother and son live happily together in a big, fancy house. Setsuka was the twelfth head of the Sakurazukamori clan – a clan of assassins (or rather; a clan of one assassin), and would thus kill people as part of her missions during these years. One day, when Seishirou is fifteen years old, he comes home to find his mother in the garden, calmly tending to her flowers and covered in blood. After some displaying of their deep, loving bond, Setsuka asks Seishirou if this will be the day he’ll end if for her. Seishirou obliges, poking a hole through her chest and kissing her goodbye, but not before Setsuka makes a final prediction that one day, he too will die by the hand of the person he loves. If this shows a talent for clairvoyance, it being a proud family tradition of the Sakurazukamori clan, or Setsuka just knowing her son that well is never stated. Personality: There’s very little canon information on Setsuka, but what we do know about her is: she likes blood, flowers, and Seishirou (possibly not quite in that order). Along with many other CLAMP characters - not to mention CLAMP themselves e__e - she considers dying by the hand of your most beloved person to be the most romantic thing ever. Death, be it her own, that of her son or of a perfect stranger, doesn’t move her in the slightest, and Seishirou truly is his mother’s son in how neither have any regard for human life or even a shred of sympathy for their victims, and in how both have a certain liking for beautiful things. Setsuka’s interest in the aesthetic manifests itself as an affinity for flowers – winter camellias being her favourite ones – and the beauty of blood. Unlike Seishirou, I imagine her taking a sort of artistic pleasure in her killings; enjoying the way blood sprays the snow or the sight of internal organs leaking from a body. Yeah. As indicated both by her apathy towards her victims and her saying that she never thought she could love anyone before she met Seishirou, she was likely perfectly content staying in the house with only Seishirou as company and only leaving it to kill. She doesn’t seem to care in the slightest that she means nothing to Seishirou, which likely is how she feels about anything she may like: her own feelings are all that matter to her; the feelings of others, even if they are of someone dear to her, are completely insignificant. If something pretty and/or compelling piques her interest, she’ll most likely bother/intrude on said interest for as long as she feels like it, until something else catches her attention. She has a few screws loose – not just in the “she’s a murderer who makes out with her son while covered in blood” sense, but I do see her as being slightly off of her rocker. She’s a master assassin who never got caught red-handed (lol), so she’s obviously very skilled, but on a personal plan that I don’t think she’d care too much to hide most of the time, she’s more than a little eccentric – the contrast between her girlish appearance and her calm, peaceful smile only further adds to this. All in all, I believe Setsuka is a happy person and considers herself having lived a happy life, since she had all the things she cared about in close reach. | ||||||||||
